We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Controller to join our team at STG Group of Companies, a medium-sized construction company known for delivering high-quality projects.
The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Collaborate with the Controller to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.
General Ledger Management:
Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and performing month-end closing procedures.
Assist in the review and analysis of general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies and variances.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to gather relevant data and ensure accurate projections.
Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted amounts and provide explanations for significant variances.
Internal Controls:
Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits and reviews.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Supervise and manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including overseeing invoicing, payments, and collections processes.
Review and analyze aged receivables and payables report to ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
Cash Management:
Monitor cash flow and assist in cash management activities, including tracking incoming and outgoing funds and managing cash balances.
Collaborate with other departments to optimize cash flow efficiency.
Financial Analysis:
Provide insightful financial analysis and reports to support decision-making by management, including profitability analysis, cost control, and financial performance metrics.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the Controller and finance team to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and drive continuous improvement.
Assist in the training and development of finance team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is a plus.

years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, preferably within the construction industry or a related field.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
Experience with construction project accounting and job costing software is a plus.
